Testimonials
CrossRoads Ministry is a great local partner for our
organization. With our shared commitment to social justice and those
at the margins, there is an ease in collaborating for the greater good of
God’s kingdom. Given these shared values, we have entrusted Crossroads
Ministry to host groups serving with our organization. We believe this
will produce lasting fruit in our community and in the communities to which
these service groups return home to.
I was first introduced to CrossRoads in the summer of '05, when I attended the CrossWalk retreat, and my life was changed for the better. This retreat opened my eyes to the extensive poverty and struggle that can be found in Louisville. I have continued working with some of the organizations CrossWalk lead me to, such as St. Vincent de Paul, Americana Community Center, and Active day. I also participated in JusticeWalking, where I not only got to continue being involved in the community, but also was educated on different issues and struggles going on around the world. I am thankful for CrossRoads for connecting me to so many beautiful people in our community that I most likely would have never met, had it not been for their retreats.
What an experience of social justice for our youth! Every youth I’ve encountered that has been through the Crossroads experience has been changed. They no longer see the marginalized as strangers, the homeless as dirty, the lonely as scary, the immigrant as undeserving, or the child as unfortunate. They now see neighbors, searching eyes, friendly smiles, caring souls, loving hearts, helping hands, and thankful for life people just like themselves—they see Christ among us! What more can you ask for? What more can I say? An experience at Crossroads is truly priceless!
In high school, CrossRoads meant evenings in a quiet room, where almost strangers would sit around a candle and listen to silence, tell each other what was hardest or most meaningful in our lives. It was a place that reminded me what I most wanted and most was. Loved by an unflinching God. Challenged to see beyond my own sheltered life. CrossRoads retreats showed me the holiness of encounter, meeting God in the prisoner, the homeless person, who has a story, which might in surprising ways sound much like my own.
