The Peace and Justice Committee leads the community in fulfilling our peacemaking covenant and mission statement. It alerts the community to issues of justice through direct action as well as educational, liturgical, and fundraising events, extending its ministries through its subcommittees:
- The Esquipulas Committee
- The St. William Conference of St. Vincent de Paul
- The Mississippi Partnership
- Diersen Birthday Outreach
- The Environmental Concerns Committee
The Esquipulas Committee works to strengthen our ties to our sister parish in
Nicaragua, offering St. William the opportunity to be neighbor with a community
in Central America, to share our faith, and to be a part of their suffering and joy.

The St. William Conference of St. Vincent de Paul responds to requests for financial
assistance (rent, utility, furniture, food) in our 40210 zip code area.
Teams of two visit families who call, offering face-to-face contact that makes real
sharing (and not just handouts) more possible. Conference members also serve as advocates
helping families and individuals in need to make connections with social service agencies.

The Mississippi Partnership, established after Hurricane Katrina in the Fall of 2005, partners St. William with the three-teamed parishes of St. Stephen, St. Anne, and St. William in Pass Christian, Mississippi. We plan regular trips to the area to assist with post-hurricane cleanup.
The Diersen Birthday Outreach hosts monthly celebrations for members of the
Diersen Center (minimum security prison next-door to St. William) who have a birthday
that month. In this way, we have a chance to interact with these men, lend a caring hand and ear.
